Body Language

This is the outcome to a brief that was set to us about Body Language. We took the brief full on and from the start wanted to create something light hearted but still get the message across clearly. We eventually decided to create a video based on the game 'Street Fighter'. We came across a really old book while researching the brief and it gave us shed loads of information on particular body language positions. In our video, the body language postions help the player get one up over the other, and eventually bags himself the girl of his dreams! Hope you get as much enjoyment watching it as we did making it.

Wall Art

This is my bedroom wall at home. I've just started painting onto it and my aim is to cover the whole of the wall! It's going to take a hell of a long time though! But I suppose it's going to be worth it when its complete as it is completly unique to my room! I will keep you updated with any new additions..

My life in 7 days

Alot could happen in 7 days. You could write a novel, win the lottery, catch meningitus, & maybe even die. What I'm going to share with you though, is a short snippet of what I got up to in my strange but wonderful world.

This photgraph was taken after a slightly intoxicated night out at Vodka Revs. I decided to pick up ornaments from a lady's garden down my road, for the simple reason they looked ridiculous. Blurry eyed the next morning i woke up, only to be told the ornaments were actually the lady's tombstones for her dead cats.

The apprentice challenge. A rather simple concept. 3 challenges, 12 teams, whichever teams make the most money go through to the next round. Simple enough. We created a group of 6 and entered the competition a couple of weeks ago and managed to get through and bag ourselves a sponsor. First challenge: £50 cash to buy and sell doughnuts. After a few telephone calls we bagged ourselves two rather large bunny costumes which we used to target the young and innocent. It paid off and we doubled what we started with putting us into an early lead. Bring on Round 2..

'Would you like a leaflet?....Would you like a leaflet?....Leaflet?..No?' These are the exact words that have generally been exiting my mouth over the past week. I work for a promotions agency who pay people to go out and hand out shitty leaflets. The kind of people you take two sides to the left just to avoid. We get kitted out in a rather fetching maroon fleece with 'Eden' embroided logo's and are let loose to roam the streets. On the plus side, we get up to £80 cash a day. Get in there!

Dont think my room has ever seen so much action in a long time! This all came about late one night when i was lying in bed bored out of my skull. I picked up a pencil off my desk and started to doodle on my freshy painted 'ivory' wall. 1 hour later I had drawn up some huge doodles. I stepped back and was rather impressed. Throughout the week I added to my wall and even sacrifised a friday night at the 'SU' to finish painting a heart. Rather sad.

By this time, my opposite wall was feeling rather down. I don't blame him to be totally honest. Im not gonna lie, I had kinda forgot about him. I decided this time I would treat him and created a rather nice piece of artwork based on one of my Nike Trainers.

Yes, Christmas is upon us so what better way then to celebrate with the switch on of the 'Eden' lights. Great. The night was filled walking snowmen, a marching band, foam snow & a walking christmas tree who got pushed and fell over. Ace.

This is a paper flower made by myself at KFC. The napkin flower is one of many talents I have aqquired over my life. This one even contains a hand fresher, for the added wow factor.

When I do have any spare time I like to watch TV and munch on doritos. However, sometimes I do like to go and have a session at the gym. I find it detox's my brain, puts me into a state of relaxation, & any problems I have had over the day seemend to get expelled. Although come to think of it, so does watching TV..

This slice of toast was something I created in 'Graphics Week'. This is a week when us Advertising students swap with the graphics students and do what they do best. The only positive I took out of it was that I'm glad I didnt choose to take Graphics.

The only bus woth waiting for! It Maybe the highlight of my week. A bright pink 'La Senza' bus pulled up in 'Eden' & out popped promo girls in next to nothing. They were doing free bra measuring on board the bus so unless you had a pair of boobs it was pretty tricky to get on board. Damn.

This is my mate Joe applying his Lipstick at Vodka Revs. Yes i'm open minded. No I dont go to these sorts of partys. This was actually for a shoot we did for a body language brief. We created a Streetfighter style video in which the body language would be used to kill the oppostion. Will upload a video as soon as we get it back.

This is s SuperCharged Range Rover Sport. One of many cars on show at 'MPH'. The show for car enthusiasts all around the world. I just spent the day drooling over the cars, only to find myself being escorted off the stand because my saliva had dribbled all over the car. Shame.

I've got a younger brother at Secondary School who also had a buisness/Enterprise week. He decided between his mates he wanted to sell caps with graffiti on. Pretty lucky that I had over 20 plain trucker caps sitting at the top of my cupboard. I spent many hours, slumped over a desk, marker pen in had, taggin' my caps. He was chuffed with them and managed to sell every single one. Although they didnt win. Gutted.

How DARE you

Thought I'd share with you an amazing brief we recieved from 'Dare Digital' a couple of weeks ago. Basically, our brief was for the new Blackberry Storm mobile phone, its been launched next week and is being tipped to be the Iphone killer.

The Key thing to follow on this brief is 'Power in your hands'

Were asking you to come up with mobile phone applications for the phone. Think of them as virals for your phone, we need people to want to pass these on.

With the introduction of the iphone there's been a number of fun viral apps circulating, ibeer being the most popular. Whilst being funny and entertaining, the apps do a great job of showcasing the technology on the phone. Plus people love showing them off to thier mates.

Like the Iphone....The Blackberry Storm also has a Gyro that recognizes when the phone is tilting...and a touch screen.

So what we need is...

Ideas for mobile phone applications, ideally these will showcase each of the functions on the phone. Ie sensitive touch screen, HD sound, HD picture and super fast messaging. We also want ideas that display a general message of POWER.

Secondly we would like you to look at ways in which the Blackberry Storm could sync with other digital mediums and deliver the message of power in your hands. For example...could the phone give you the power to write on a digital billboard, via bluetooth? Like Nike ID maybe storm could give you the power to change the colour of a trainer on a digital 6-sheet.

Virgin?

This is the outcome for a brief that was set to us in 1st year. We were set a brief to advertise the brand 'Virgin'. We really wanted to create something that stood out from the mass of other adverts already in currculation. The obvious route to go down was to play on the word 'Virgin'. Maybe create something tuonge in cheek, without de-grading the airline.

One of our first ideas was probably the most controversial, but nother the less we decided to go ahead with it. We went with a topical and ongoing theme, suicide bombers. News stories have repeated sold the story of suicide bombers and their heavenly rewards. The american TV channel CBS broadcast an interview with Muhammad Abu Wardeh, a Hamas activist who recruits terrorists for suicide bombings in Israel. Abu Wardeh was quoted: "I described to him how God would compensate the martyr for sacrificing his life for his land. If you become a martyr, God will give you 70 virgins.

We basically decided to use the tagline 'The only Virgin worth dying from', accompanied with the following picture:

Picture will be uploaded soon.

We then decided to create another campaign, this time focusing on the brands truths, and hopefully find something that sets it apart from any other rival airline, offering the same service. We scoured various sources, took a trip up to Heathrow and experienced it first hand. We were stuck. The service is too good! There must be something negaive about Virgin! That's when we stumbled across a piece of inforamtion that was the bread & butter for our final campaign.

Virgin run with a 99% pass rate. There open about the fact that they cant please everyone and even talk about it on their website. We found it rather pleasing to hear how truthful they were and decided to run a campaign based on this.

This is out finished campaign (type needs to be changed slightly)

I'm lost without you.

Our brief was simple. To create and send a postcard and get it returned to our address before the critique, failing to do so would result in out work not being marked. Easy. The only problem, the address couldnt be visible and had to be a challenge for the postman.

Brain was now in over-drive. I was initially thinking about creating a crossword puzzle, pirates map, or maybe even a dot-to-dot but soon decided it was a far too obvious route to go down. I also wanted to create a beautifully crafted piece of graphics work.

After many hours and countless cans of red bull, I decided to use light as the backbone to my project. I love how light is such a powerful medium and yet is so widely available to us all.

This is my postcard, in normal situe:

This is the postcard after being held up to the light:

Simple yet effective.
